DESCRIPTION

Rolex Day-Date 1803 “President” – The Icon of Prestige and Craftsmanship

Rolex has long stood as the benchmark for luxury and technical mastery in watchmaking, with the Day-Date serving as one of its most iconic creations. Introduced in 1956, the Day-Date was the first wristwatch to display both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full, earning it the nickname “President” after becoming favored by world leaders and influential figures. The reference 1803, produced throughout the 1960s and 1970s, represents one of the most celebrated iterations of the model. With its 18K gold construction, fluted bezel, and distinctive pie-pan or gilt dials, the Day-Date 1803 embodies the height of Rolex craftsmanship and enduring appeal among vintage collectors.

Key Details To Consider

A remarkable example of the Rolex Day-Date 1803 presented in all original condition. The 18K yellow gold case retains its sharp lugs and well-defined profile, having been polished in the past but now showing attractive aging and light oxidation that give it a distinctive vintage character. The original fluted bezel remains crisp and well-preserved.

Its black glossy gilt “door stop” dial is in excellent condition, featuring beautifully preserved tritium plots and original tritium hands that have aged consistently. The movement has been professionally serviced in October 2025, runs with precision, and has been pressure tested to 3ATM (30m).

The serial number, 4.1 million, dates the watch to 1974. It is fitted on a new handmade 20/16mm brown calfskin leather strap with a gold-plated Rolex pin buckle.

A striking vintage Day-Date with exceptional presence and originality.
