DESCRIPTION
Rolex Day-Date Ref. 1803 Yellow Gold with Factory Diamond Dial
Rolex has long been regarded as one of the most influential and respected names in Swiss watchmaking, known for its focus on precision, durability, and enduring design. Since its founding, the brand has consistently set industry standards through in-house manufacturing, rigorous testing, and iconic models that have become benchmarks across generations.
The Rolex Day-Date Ref. 1803 is one of the brand’s most recognizable and historically important references. Introduced in the mid-20th century, the Day-Date was the first wristwatch to display both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full, a feature that quickly became synonymous with the model. Crafted exclusively in precious metals, the Ref. 1803 represents a classic era of the Day-Date line, combining a refined yellow gold case with a slim profile and traditional proportions. Often associated with leaders and collectors alike, the 1803 remains a highly sought-after reference for its historical significance, mechanical reliability, and unmistakable presence.
Key Details To Consider
This very rare Rolex Day-Date Ref. 1803 is presented as a yellow gold head in all-original configuration and remains in very good overall condition. The case is notably sharp, with thick lugs and well-defined edges throughout, showing honest signs of wear consistent with age. All case engravings and numbers are fully visible and intact, with a 5 million serial dating production to approximately 1977.
The watch features an original Rolex factory diamond dial in mint condition. All tritium hour plots remain intact and evenly preserved, perfectly matched with the original tritium hands, and continue to react under UV light as expected. The dial presents exceptionally well and is a standout example for this reference.
The movement has been professionally serviced in January 2026 and is running properly. The watch was also pressure tested to 3 ATM (30 meters). It is fitted with a new vintage-style 20/16mm brown alligator leather strap and paired with a Rolex gold-plated pin buckle.
This example is further accompanied by original Rolex service papers dated 2003, adding to its provenance and collectibility.
