DESCRIPTION
Rolex GMT-Master 1675 “Pepsi” – A Vintage Travel Icon
Rolex is synonymous with precision, innovation, and enduring design, earning its place as one of the most revered luxury watchmakers in the world. The GMT-Master, introduced in 1954, was created in collaboration with Pan American World Airways to meet the needs of professional pilots and frequent travelers. Its dual time zone functionality quickly made it an icon among globetrotters and watch enthusiasts alike.
The Ref. 1675, produced from 1959 to 1980, stands out as one of the most celebrated iterations of the GMT-Master. Renowned for its robust construction, reliable movement, and vibrant “Pepsi” bezel, the 1675 exudes vintage charm while offering exceptional practicality. Its enduring design and cultural significance have made it a cornerstone in Rolex’s storied history and a must-have for collectors.
Key Details To Consider
A standout reference in Rolex’s vintage sports watch lineup, this GMT-Master 1675 is presented in very nice overall condition, retaining its full original character. The case shows thick and defined lugs with sharp chamfers, having been lightly polished in the past while still maintaining strong lines.
The original MK2 matte dial has aged beautifully, with creamy yellow patina evenly applied across all hour markers and perfectly matching tritium hands. The watch features a gently faded red and blue “Pepsi” bezel insert that brings a soft, vintage charm and enhances its classic tool-watch appeal.
This example is fitted with a Jubilee bracelet in very good condition, showing only light stretch and comfortably fitting a 7.5” (19cm) wrist. Additional links are available upon request. The case serial number is in the 2.9 million range, dating it to the early 1970s, with a case back stamped ’71. All engravings remain crisp and fully legible.
While the movement’s service history is unknown, it currently runs well and maintains its GMT and timekeeping functions. A true icon of the jet age and a must-have for collectors of vintage Rolex sports models.
