DESCRIPTION
Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675 – Iconic Dual-Time Pilot’s Watch
Rolex is one of the most influential and respected watch manufacturers in the world, known for its relentless focus on precision, durability, and functional design. Since its founding in 1905, the brand has set numerous industry standards, from the first waterproof wristwatch to the widespread use of certified chronometer movements. Rolex sports models in particular have earned legendary status for their reliability in demanding environments and their enduring appeal among collectors.
The GMT-Master Ref. 1675 is one of the most iconic tool watches Rolex has ever produced. Introduced in the mid-1950s and manufactured for several decades, it was originally designed for professional pilots to track multiple time zones simultaneously. The combination of a rotating 24-hour bezel, bold dial layout, and robust Oyster case made it a practical instrument and a defining sports watch. Today, the 1675 is highly regarded for its historical importance, distinctive design variations, and strong collector demand, especially in well-preserved, all-original examples.
Key Details To Consider
This all-original Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675 in stainless steel is preserved in outstanding condition, approaching like-new for its age. The case retains very thick, razor-sharp lugs with factory-like surfaces and well-defined bevels throughout, reflecting careful ownership and minimal wear.
The watch features a highly desirable MK1 long E period-correct dial with pronounced zinc sulfide patina, evenly developed across the lume plots and perfectly matched by the original hands. Under UV light, the lume reacts with a bright green glow, consistent with correct materials from this era. The faded red and blue Pepsi bezel insert has aged beautifully, complementing the overall character of the watch without detracting from its originality.
The original folded-link Oyster bracelet is exceptionally preserved, showing no stretch at all and retaining all 12 links, a rare attribute for a GMT-Master from the 1960s. The case serial number 1.8 million dates production to approximately 1967.
The movement has been professionally serviced in December 2025, is running properly, and has been pressure tested to 3ATM. An outstanding example of a reference that remains one of the most important and collectible vintage sports models Rolex has ever produced.
