DESCRIPTION
Rolex GMT-Master 1675 PCG – Early Gilt Dial Icon
Rolex, founded in 1905, is regarded as one of the most influential watchmakers in history, known for its innovation, precision, and iconic designs. Among its most celebrated creations is the GMT-Master, introduced in 1955 for professional pilots and developed in collaboration with Pan American Airways to track multiple time zones simultaneously.
The GMT-Master 1675, launched in 1959, became one of the longest-produced and most recognizable references in the collection. Distinguished by its dual-color bezel and robust Oyster case, the 1675 introduced significant design evolutions, including pointed crown guards (PCG) in its early production. The gilt dials from this period are particularly prized by collectors for their depth and character, especially as they age with unique patina. The 1675 PCG holds a special place in Rolex history, representing both technical advancement and the early design language of one of the brand’s most iconic tool watches.
Key Details To Consider
Rolex GMT-Master 1675 PCG (Pointed Crown Guard) offered here in excellent overall condition. The case features thick and sharp lugs, professionally polished to Rolex standards, retaining its strength and defined proportions.
The original red back Pepsi insert has aged gracefully, showcasing a natural fade that enhances its vintage appeal. The original glossy gilt dial remains in stunning condition, free from cracks, with zinc sulfide markers that have aged to a warm yellow tone, perfectly complemented by the matching hands. Both dial and hands still react under UV light with a green glow.
The original oyster riveted bracelet, complete with all 13 links, is in very good condition with only minor stretch. The watch houses Rolex’s original butterfly movement, which was professionally serviced in September 2025 and is running properly.
A rare and highly collectible reference, especially sought after in this level of preservation and originality.
