Rolex GMT-Master

Rolex is one of the most recognized names in watchmaking, with a history going back to the early 1900s. The brand built its reputation on producing reliable, well-finished tool watches, and over the decades those watches have become some of the most collected in the world. Rolex has always focused on in-house production and incremental refinement rather than chasing novelty, which is a big part of why their references tend to hold up both mechanically and in terms of collector interest.

The GMT-Master was developed in the 1950s in partnership with Pan American Airways, designed for pilots and crew who needed to track two time zones at once. The 1675 is the reference that carried the model through the 1960s and into the 1970s, and it is one of the most sought-after references in the GMT-Master line. It uses the caliber 1570 movement, a workhorse automatic that Rolex produced in large numbers and that is known for being durable and accurate. The 1675 features a crown guard case, a bi-color 24-hour bezel insert, and a date function, all in a 40mm steel case that wears well even by modern standards.

Within the 1675 family, there is a fair amount of variation in dials, bezels, and case details depending on the production year, and this is a big part of what drives collector interest. Dials from the early production years, particularly those with gilt printing and exclamation point text, are considered especially desirable. The Pepsi colorway (red and blue bezel) is the most iconic configuration for this reference, and examples with original, unpolished cases and matching components command serious attention in the vintage market.

Key Details To Consider

This is a rare, all-original Rolex GMT-Master 1675 with matching components throughout, and it presents in excellent overall condition for its age. The steel PCG case features an unusual eagle beak crown guard, which is notably uncommon on this reference. The lugs retain very thick profiles with razor-sharp edges and factory bevels intact, which speaks to how well this watch has been preserved over the decades. All case numbers are fully legible and intact, and the serial number falls in the 1 million range, consistent with the watch's 1963 production date.

The original chapter ring dial has aged to a warm tropical brown tone that reads clearly in normal daylight. This kind of color shift is something collectors actively seek out in gilt dials from this era. There is some light aging present, which is completely natural for a glossy gilt dial of this period. The zinc sulfide lume plots have aged to a warm yellow that complements the dial nicely, and they still react strongly under UV light with a bright green glow. The red-back Pepsi bezel insert has faded in a way that pairs naturally with the overall patina of the watch.

The original jubilee bracelet is in excellent shape with almost no stretch, and it likely retains all of its links, fitting a wrist up to approximately 8.25 inches (21 cm). The movement was professionally serviced in July 2026 and pressure tested to 3 ATM, and it runs correctly. The watch comes with its original box and the original punched papers showing the Rolex authorized dealer stamp, dated 1963.
