Rolex GMT-Master

Rolex is one of the most recognized names in watchmaking, with a history dating back to 1905. The brand built its reputation on producing reliable, accurate, and durable watches, and over the decades it has become a benchmark in the luxury watch market. Rolex watches tend to hold their value well compared to most other brands, and vintage references in particular have seen strong collector interest over the past several decades.

The GMT-Master was developed in the 1950s in collaboration with Pan American Airways to give pilots a way to track two time zones simultaneously. It uses a 24-hour bezel and an additional GMT hand to display a second time zone at a glance, making it a genuinely functional tool watch rather than just a dress piece. The design has remained largely consistent over the decades, which speaks to how well the original concept worked.

The reference 16750 was produced from approximately 1981 to 1988 and represents a transitional point in the GMT-Master lineage. It updated the earlier 1675 with a quickset date function via the caliber 3075 movement, while retaining the classic aesthetic of the earlier generation — including the matte dial option in early production examples. The 16750 sits between the vintage appeal of the 1675 and the more modern 16710 that followed it, which gives it a distinct place in the GMT-Master family and makes it appealing to collectors who want a watch that bridges both eras.

Key Details To Consider

This Rolex GMT-Master reference 16750 presents in good overall condition with all original components intact. The steel case retains thick lugs with what appears to be factory finish, showing the kind of normal surface wear expected from a watch of this age. Case engravings and serial number — dating to the 8.1 million range — remain fully legible.

The dial is an original MK1 matte example that is period correct to the watch. It has developed an even yellow patina across all the hour markers, with the hands showing matching coloration — a natural characteristic of vintage Rolex dials from this era that collectors tend to look for. The Pepsi bezel insert is in excellent condition.

The jubilee bracelet is period correct with the appropriate 550 end links. It shows minimal stretch considering its age and remains in very good condition. It currently fits a 7.75-inch wrist.

The caliber 3075 movement was professionally serviced in June 2026 and has been pressure tested to 3ATM. It is running properly.

The watch comes with its original box and punched papers dated to 1983, adding important provenance to the piece.
