DESCRIPTION
Tudor Submariner 7021/0 “Blue Snowflake” – Date Complication First Edition
Founded in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, the creator of Rolex, Tudor was established to offer the same reliability and precision as its parent company, but at a more accessible price point. Over the decades, Tudor developed its own identity, particularly through its tool watches, which were widely used by military forces and professional divers.
The Tudor Submariner 7021/0, introduced in the late 1960s, marked a major step in the brand’s evolution. It was the first Tudor Submariner to feature a date complication, along with the now-iconic “Snowflake” hands. Offered in both black and blue dial variants, the 7021/0 is especially known for its vibrant blue dials—many of which have aged in unique and desirable ways. These early Snowflake models are now highly sought after by collectors due to their distinctive aesthetics, historical significance, and shared lineage with vintage Rolex dive watches.
Key Details To Consider
This Tudor Submariner Ref. 7021/0 is an excellent example of the brand’s early dive watch heritage, presented in all original condition. The stainless steel case features thick lugs and crisp bevels, retaining strong definition despite being polished in the past.
The standout feature is the original blue dial—remarkably well preserved for this reference. Unlike most examples that suffer from heavy paint degradation or bubbling, this dial is clean, with soft eggshell patina evenly covering the tritium hour markers. The hands match perfectly and still respond under UV light.
The faded blue “ghost” bezel insert adds to the vintage character of the watch and includes a matching pearl pip. It pairs seamlessly with the dial, giving the watch a cohesive and well-aged aesthetic.
The original riveted Oyster bracelet shows almost no stretch and includes 11 links, fitting comfortably on most wrists. All serial and reference numbers between the lugs are crisp and fully legible.
Though the exact service history is unknown, the movement has been tested and runs accurately. A well-preserved and highly attractive vintage Submariner from the golden era of Tudor’s tool watches.
