DESCRIPTION
Tudor Submariner Snowflake Ref. 7021/0 “Confetti Dial”
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Tudor Submariner Snowflake marked a defining chapter in Tudor’s history as the brand sought to establish its own identity alongside Rolex. Known for its distinctive square hour markers and angular “snowflake” hands, the model offered improved legibility and durability for professional divers. The Ref. 7021/0 was among the first Snowflake references, notable for introducing the date complication and often featuring unique dial variations such as the rare “Confetti” dial. Tudor’s Submariners were used by military forces, including the French Marine Nationale, underscoring their reliability and ruggedness. Today, these early Snowflake models are highly collectible for their historical significance, striking aesthetics, and connection to the golden era of tool watches.
Key Details To Consider
A very rare and all-original Tudor Submariner Snowflake Ref. 7021/0, presented in outstanding overall condition. The case retains thick, sharp lugs with what appear to be its original factory bevels. The crown features the correct period Rolex coronet, complementing the watch’s authentic details.
The standout feature is its black “Confetti” dial, showing an intense pumpkin patina across the indices and perfectly matching hands. Subtle signs of aging are present—typical of these dials and part of what makes them highly prized among collectors for their rarity and unique texture.
Its bezel insert has gracefully aged to a rich blueish tone that pairs beautifully with the dial, while the domed acrylic crystal—without the usual cyclops magnifier—is a rare and desirable variation. The original Oyster bracelet shows minimal stretch, a remarkable trait for a watch of this age, and includes 12 links.
All serial and reference numbers are crisp and fully legible, with the 760xxx serial placing production around 1968–1969. A superb example of the early Snowflake Submariner, showcasing both rarity and remarkable preservation.
