DESCRIPTION
Tudor Submariner 7021/0 – The Iconic Snowflake with Vintage Character
Tudor, a brand established in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, was created as a more affordable alternative to Rolex while maintaining high standards of quality and durability. The Tudor Submariner line, introduced in 1954, quickly gained a reputation for reliability, often being used by military forces around the world.
The Tudor Submariner 7021/0, released in 1969, was the first Tudor Submariner to feature a date function. It was equipped with the ETA Calibre 2484 and featured a roulette date wheel, with alternating red and black numerals. The model was available exclusively with “Snowflake” hands and came in both black and blue dial variations. Its distinctive square indices and hands provided improved legibility, a feature that remains iconic in Tudor’s design language today.
Highly sought after by collectors, the 7021/0 is an important reference in Tudor’s history, marking the beginning of the brand’s independent design evolution while still sharing components with Rolex, such as the Oyster case and signed crowns. Many examples exhibit strong patina, and variations in bezel fading and dial aging add to their character and desirability among vintage watch enthusiasts.
Key Details To Consider
This vintage Tudor Submariner Snowflake Ref. 7021/0 is an outstanding example of the brand’s early dive watch history. The case remains strong with thick, sharp lugs, possibly polished long ago, but still preserving its original profile.
The striking blue dial has aged beautifully, showcasing a deep, intense color with rich yellow patina across the indices and matching hands. A small chip near 2 o’clock was previously repaired with blue paint, but the dial retains its vibrancy. The original blue insert is in excellent condition, further enhancing the watch’s bold presence.
Powered by a well-maintained movement that has been previously serviced, the watch runs accurately with no immediate need for further servicing. All case numbers are fully intact and legible, confirming its authenticity and history.
Fitted on a vintage-style beige suede strap (20/16mm) with a Rolex steel pin buckle, this Tudor Submariner offers both rugged utility and undeniable charm. It also comes with original vintage Rolex service papers, adding to its collectibility.
